A long update

Lucy

I can’t believe Lucy is two! The time went so fast and she is getting so big. I am amazed each day at how much I love her and what an amazing little girl she is. She is so smart and funny and happy. I love going in her room in the morning and seeing her smile.

Here are the top ten things that I love about Lucy.

1. When you say “I love you” she will say “too” back.

2. She gives the best hugs and kisses.

3. She is so smart – She can count to ten, she likes to recite her ABC’s (although she doesn’t get all the letters right), she likes to spell her name (LCY, she usually misses the U), knows all the animals sounds, loves to draw (especially with pens and pencils), can write an L (okay, that only happened once, but I like to brag about it)

4. She likes to sing songs, especially Spider, Popcorn, and Monkeys

5. The other day, I wrote her name and asked her what it said and she said “SUCY” (that is how she says her name). Then I wrote MOM and asked her what it said and she said “Mommy”. Then I wrote DAD and asked her what it said and she said “Naniel” (that is how she says dad)

6. She is so pretty! She has the prettiest color hair, it is strawberry blonde and it is fun to do. She also has big green eyes.

7. When she runs, she bends her left arm and pumps it back and forth. It is so cute!

8. She combines certain words into one word – WoodyBuzz, DoraBoots, MovieShow, NinnySam (Nicole and Sam)

9. She loves movies and would watch them nonstop if we would let her.

10. Says “see soon” (see ya soon), “mere” (come here), calls Whitney “Ninny”, Grandma is Momma and Mom is Mommy, “your felfom” (your welcome), she will walk out of the room and walk back in and say “I’m home!!!”

She has the cutest little dance moves. The other night we were dancing together and she wanted to dance with Whitney, so I held her up and Lucy held her hands. It was so cute and Whitney loved it. She is such a good big sister and has adjusted well to Whitney. It is so fun having two little girls! We love our Lucy Goosey and feel so blessed to be her parents!

Whitney

I have hardly said a word about Whitney on this blog and I feel so bad. She is such a beautiful little baby and we love her so much. She probably doesn’t get as much attention as she deserves, but we do out best. She is starting to smile more and more and it is so fun! She has been doing pretty good about sleeping through the night (except the 3 am feeding she doesn’t seem to want to get rid of). She went from our little peanut (she was smaller than Lucy when she was born) to our chunky monkey. She has nursed much better than Lucy did and is gaining weight fast.

Here are some of the cute things about Whitney

1. She has beautiful eyes – I think they may end up being blue like here daddy.

2. Sometimes she sticks out her tongue when she smiles and it is so cute.

3. She has started to laugh and kind of tilts her head back when she does it.

4. Her left ear looks like someone took a little bite out of it (I will have to post a picture)

5. She has a birthmark on her right leg near her ankle.

6. She has the cutest little rolls on her legs.

7. Sometimes when I am nursing her she looks up and just smiles and me.

8. She has the cutest little swirl of hair on the back of her head.

9. She loves to be held.

10. She loves to stare at the elephant on the baby swing.

We have loved our little Whitney. We often find ourselves calling her Ninny and even occasionally, she gets called Baby B. It is so fun to have our family grow and we love our little girls!

February was a busy month for us, with lots of sicknesses.  We are all feeling better and doing well.  Some excited news – Daniel got a new job!  He is now working for a company called Airbag Services.  So far he is really liking it and we are excited for the opportunities he will have there.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to.

Whitney’s blessing

It took us a little while to bless Whitney (I was afraid she might not fit in her dress by the time we did it) because everyone kept getting sick, but we ended up blessing her on February 27 (7 years to the day from mine and Daniel’s first date).  I made her dress and I think it turned out really pretty.  It had a lace overlay and she looked so pretty in it.  Here are a few pictures from that day.

Whitney's sad little cry...broke my heart

Sunday, February 13, 2011

February has been a sick month

It started with Lucy. She had a bad cough and fever. We took her to insta care last weekend. They said it was probably RSV. She had a cough for a few days and then a really bad runny nose. Her fever didn't seem to go away, so we took her to the doctor again and it had turned into an ear infection. She is on antibiotics now and doing great. The day I took Lucy to the doctor again, Whitney started to sound bad, the next day she sounded awful. She had no voice and a bad cough. Daniel took her to the doctor on wednesday, and he said she probably had RSV too, and told us to watch her. Yesterday, she was having bad coughing attacks and we were worried about her breathing, so we made a trip to the ER. We ended up being admitted because they wanted to put her on oxygen and watch her. So, we have been her for almost 24 hours and she is doing pretty good. They have her on oxygen and suck out all the mucus every once in awhile. Mostly she has been sleeping. I think she is getting a little better. It is so sad to hear her little hoarse cry.
I am starting to feel a little crappy and my mom and Sam are both feeling sick now. Hopefully March will bring some sun shine and all the sickness will be gone.

Moments in the Mommyhood

Loading the dishwasher is not easy with Lucy hanging around. She wants to put the soap in, she takes out the dishes you just puts in, she shuts the door while you are trying to load, etc. Today, while I was loading the dishwasher, Lucy was bugging me so I told her to go lay down. A minute later, she was back with a pillow and her blanket and laid down on the floor next to the dishwasher. I couldn't be mad at her any longer, she is just so cute!

Here is a picture from the other day. My two girls. They are so cute and we love them so much. Don't you just love Whitney's double chin? I weighed her today and she is 10 lbs. She is our little chunky monkey. I know she is still so small (my co-worker's son was born a day after Whit and he is 14 lbs now and I am sure her cousin, Jayce, who is a day older than her is probably about the same as that), but she has gained weight much faster than Lucy did. We love our little girls!

Whitney

I can't believe Whitney is almost two months old now. I only have one week left before I have to go back to work and I am so sad. It has been nice to be home with the girls. Lucy is so much fun right now and Whitney gets cuter every day. She is finally starting to sleep for longer stretches of time (and even went eight hours between feedings once last weekend) so hopefully that will help me once I go back to work. I was worried about going back when her schedule was still all over the place, but we are slowly getting into a routine.

Whitney is such a cute little girl. She has brown hair, that looks auburn in some lights (Daniel doesn't agree though). She loves to be held, which has been hard with Lucy running around. She has cried a lot more than Lucy did, but I don't think I can complain much since Lucy was such a good baby. Whitney has gained weight much faster than Lucy and has been such a good eater. Nursing with Lucy was not easy, she just couldn't get the hang of it. Whitney took to it right away and I was able to nurse her the day she was born and feel like she was getting something.

Whitney's eyes are still pretty gray, but I kind of think they might go blue. She is starting to smile and coo which is so fun and makes it all worth it. I wish I had more time to just hold her, I feel like I don't have time to just sit and hold her, especially with Lucy wanting to play. I think I spent hours and hours just staring at Lucy, and I haven't done that with Whitney. I had probably done a dozen "photo shoots" with Lucy by this time, and I have maybe done two with Whitney. I need to be better, because I don't want to miss out or forget this time in our little girl's life.

Whitney about 6 weeks
Lucy about 5 weeks

I am just about finished making Whitney's blessing dress and I am so excited about how it turned out. I used the same pattern as Lucy's but added some lace. I wanted them to be different and I think they are both so cute.

Lucy has been a good big sister. She has started to call her "ninny" and likes to give her kisses. When we first brought Whitney home, Lucy wanted to hold her all the time and we had to really watch her, but she is doing better now. She likes to rock Whitney in the swing, which I have to keep telling her to stop doing. She always lets me know when Whitney is crying "baby cying". Lucy has been saying "too" a lot. If we both have gloves on, she points to me and says "too", because I have gloves too. She also wants others to have things, like if she has a sticker or some food, she wants Whitney to have some "too". Lucy will also tell me when she has a stinky diaper by saying "steenty biaper" and when you change her she says "eeww grooss". She is talking all the time and I am amazed at what she understands. Her favorite movie is "meemo" (Nemo) which she would watch everyday if I would let her.
The left picture is Lucy a few weeks after she was born, the one on the right is just a few weeks ago.  I can believe how big she has gotten

We are so blessed with our little girls and are so grateful to have them in our lives.
