Harry Potter won!!!

Last night, we took our pumpkins up to Shriner's Hospital for the kids to judge. Harry Potter was the overwhelming favorite, followed up by the princess pumpkin (there were mostly girls doing the judging). Here is a link to the Deseret Morning News Article.

Just a normal Sunday

Today, Daniel and I went to my mom's for dinner and then we all took naps. Later, we forced Jon and Briana to play BANG! with us. It is a game the Ben and Laura gave me for my birthday. We played it last Sunday, but it took us awhile to get all the rules down. This Sunday we knew what we were doing so it went faster. After they played one round with us, we invited the Whitmores over to play it with us, and we played two more rounds with them. It is a fun game, a little complicated until you get the hang of it, but fun. Here are some pictures from our typical Sunday evening. Not too exciting, but nice to spend time with family.

Pumpkins for Shriner's Hospital.

The IIDA (international interior designers association) of Salt Lake is hosting an activity for Shriner's Hospital. Designers here in Salt Lake were asked to decorate a pumpkin for the children at the hospital, and the kids are going to judge the pumpkins and pick their favorites. The interior designers at MHTN decided to make Harry Potter pumpkins. Here are the finished masterpieces and the image we based them off of. What do you think?

I was looking through pictures on our computer today and I found this video of cute James playing with Daniel. It made me smile, so I thought I would share it. (to get the full effect, you have to listen to it with the sound, he has the cutest little laugh!)

We went to Conference.

We got tickets from our ward to attend the Sunday session of conference. This is the first time i had the opportunity to attend conference and it was quit the experience Its takes almost 5 hours to attend a 2 hour session of conference we had to leave our house by 8 am for the 10 am session, we had to be there early because of music and the spoken word at 9:30 and then we didn't get out of the parking lot to leave until 12:45. It was an amazing experience to feel the wonderful spirit when the Prophet enters the room and to see all the faithful saints stand in silence to acknowledge a Prophet of the Lord has entered the room.

Happy Birthday Amy!!!

On Oct. 4th was Amy's birthday. I think i have made a cake in the past but i dont think it was as good as this one. I didnt know you had to wait until the cake had cooled to put the frosting on it. So thats why it looks a little special. i covered it after i frosted it and the frosting melted but it really did taste good. It is a yellow cake with cherry frosting. Betty Crocker has the recipe if you are interested.

If you keep up on our blog you would know that our monitor went out last sunday and we have been missing the use of our computer and the internet (especially me because i dont work with one all day long). Today i am posting for the first time from our home with our new monitor.

So we finally got the internet last week, and then our computer monitor went out on Sunday! Now, we can't even use the computer. It is amazing how attached we can become to technology. How did we ever survive without computers, cell phones, email, etc.

Daniel has on old monitor at his parents, which we will probably get this week, so hopefully we will be in the 21st century again soon!
