Funeral, Family, and Bear Lake

Our family has had a busy couple of weeks.  On July 22nd, Daniel’s grandma had a heart attack and peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 24th.  These are some pictures from when she got home from her mission about a year and a half ago.  We will miss her and all her crazy ways.  She was a great genealogist and missionary.  It was very sudden and still doesn’t seem real.  She has always been so active.

With the funeral and everything else, we were able to have Shelly, Susan, and the kids come stay with us for almost a week.  Lucy LOVED having the kids here and still asks where they are.  It was so fun to spend time with them, but Daniel and I had to work and it rained a lot that week, so we didn’t get to do much while they were here.

We did get to play outside for a little.

Baby Jayce.  He is one day older than Whitney, but seems so much older.  He is crawling, pulling himself up, eating real food, and constantly moving.  He was always in our kitchen, going through the drawers.  He also has about 5 lbs on Whitney.  He has such a cute smile!  It was fun to see him and Whitney together. And despite the rain, we even got in some swimming.

Last Friday, we got a phone call from my brother, Jon, inviting us to Bear Lake that night.  So, at about 8 pm, we hurried and packed up the cars and the kids and headed to Bear Lake for the weekend.

We had a great time with Jon, Briana, and Baby Matthew.  We was nice to get away for just a little bit.

Now, a little about Whitney.  I have hardly documented her life and am felling a little guilty.  She is the cutest little thing and we love her to pieces.  She has gotten really fast army crawling and can pretty much get wherever she wants to go.  She has the cutest smiles and the brightest eyes.  Lucy calls her Ninny, but in this last week has started calling her Whitters and loves to make her smile.  She likes to jabber and blow zobbers.  She has started to say , dadada, which Daniel loves.  She sleeps great at night.  I am planning on nursing for another month and then stopping.  I am starting to have mixed emotions about that.  I don’t like pumping at work, but I don’t mind nursing at home and it means she is growing up.  She is at such a cute stage right now and I just want to make it last a little longer.

Lucy is growing up and is such a cute little girl.  She likes to make Whitney smile.  She likes to sing the ABCs, reading But No Elephants (which she pretty much has memorized), she can count to 11 or 12, she knows most of her colors, animal sounds, and body parts.  She talks all the time and we can understand most of it.  She is really in to birthdays right now.  She is always singing or saying happy birthday to us and will often bring us random toys or things that are “birthday cakes”.  She is going on the potty a lot lately, but mostly when we remind her.  She has gone in public restrooms a few times and we are hoping she will decide to stop going in her diaper on her own.  Daniel is battling the thumb sucking right now, but it isn’t going so well.  She is such a cute girl and loves to give hugs and kisses.  We love her so much!

July

July has been a good month, and it is going by too fast.

We had a great 4th.  Daniel’s mom was in town and we were able to spend time with her and Grandma Faye.  Here are Lucy and Whit in their cute 4th of July outfits.

June

June went by so fast.  We moved into our new apartment the weekend of labor day and have enjoyed living here.  We have gone swimming a lot, which Lucy loves.  She loves going “wimming” and always wants to put on her “wim soup” (swim suit).  She has no fear of the water, which makes it a little scary for us, but we got her a tube and she does pretty good in the water.

Whitney is changing and growing everyday.  She can now sit up, army crawl, and roll all over.  She is full of smiles and she smile with her whole body (her legs curl up and she will turn her head in this shy little way).  It is super cute and melts my heart.

Daniel turned 30 on the 23rd.  I am so grateful for him and all he does for our family.  He is such a good dad and all of his girls love him!!

Lucy’s hair is getting so long.  I was able to get these cute little braids in it.  It is always in her face though, if I don’t do it, so I am debating on whether to cut it short again or not.  Lucy has been paying more attention to Whitney and it is so cute.  She gives her hugs and kisses.  Lucy is starting to get sassy, but she is such a stinking cute little girl, it is hard to be mad for long.  She has started to say “thank you so much” and “love you so much” and it is so cute.IMG_0878IMG_0851

Daniel’s mom came to visit the weekend after Daniel’s birthday.  It was so much fun to have her and we ended up going to Liberty park and riding the rides and walking around.  It was to be out in the sun and Lucy had a fun time.

We also went to a party at my mom’s with dad’s family.  My cousin is moving, so my mom had everyone over for a bbq.  It was fun to see everyone and get all the great grandkids together.

Moving and other pics

We move to an apartment in Cottownwood Heights about a week ago.  Moving is never fun, but we are excited to get settled in our new place.  Lucy like swimming, and we have already been twice.  Here are a couple of cute pictures from the last little bit.
